This is a discipline that seeks to produce intelligent technology, this is, devices or machines that can perform activities based on the quality we can call intelligence, similar to human intelligence. For the development of these abilities one of the fundamental questions is precisely what is intelligence and what are its essential characteristics. Thus, the proposal of mathematician Alan Turing was essential in Artificial Intelligence history: the Turing Test stablished that to be intelligent, a machine must be able to “process large amounts of information, interpret speech, and communicate with humans” (Taulli, 2019).
Still today there are debates around this definition on intelligence, because these qualities mentioned don’t mean that the machine has consciousness or that it can learn or act as a human being beyond the program it has. So, it is talked about two kinds of Artificial Intelligence: strong and weak. The strong one means that the “machine truly understands what is happening. There may even be emotions and creativity. For the most part, it is what
we see in science fiction movies. This type of AI is also known as Artificial General Intelligence (AGI)” (Taulli, 2019). In weak AI, “a machine is pattern matching and usually focused on narrow tasks (Taulli, 2019).
From its functionalities of automatization and agility, AI begins to be more used in companies around the world. It is expected that in a close future many software products will be able to perform complex actions that can improve the corporate development and will allow people to give time to creativity tasks and not only to repetitive and mechanical functions.
