Intelligence in a wide sense, relative to any living creature, is the ability to take the information available and make accurate and successful decisions in
order to survive. Thus, business intelligence is the ability a company has for making an efficient use of information coming from its commercial operation and, from it, being able to make decision, adapt to market conditions, grow improve internally, and give better responds to its customer, etc.
Usually it is understood that this business intelligence is brought by a software solution that is able to extract and store all the information (Big Data) in a single system from which the data is organized in order to offer the best perspectives from which to make decisions. These software solutions are known as Business Intelligence: “Business intelligence (BI) is a set of technologies and processes that allow people at all levels of an organization to access and analyze data” (Howson, 2014). It is important to point out that Business Intelligence is, in this regard, the technology in charge of storing and having the information on the business’ behavior ready, but there is always the need of an analyst who can interpret and use it in the right way.
