A business process is “what companies do whenever they deliver a service or a product to customers” (Dumas et al., 2018); it begins whenever a customer makes a request to the organization. These requests are inputs that must become outputs getting back to customers as products or services; for this to happen there are people in charge that use guidance and rules in order to know how to act in each step of the process (Mahal, 2010). This means that a process is essentially an information flow that must be received properly for having the right reactions in each message. Process automation is thus to assure that most communications are made in an automatic way through messages, reminders, etc., that help to coordinate the whole process. This is made from a clear design of the process’ structure.
Business process automation is part of the transformations that have been growing in 21st century with the emergence of new technologies; these transformations demand speediness, effectiveness and reliability from the companies. As, Information Technology is the basis of these demands, process automation requires a deep understanding of it by managers in present times.
